Tipping Point

One of my favorite stories from high school was about the older sister of a classmate who applied to college. Her essay question was “Are you a leader or a follower?”

She knew the right answer was “leader”, but she just couldn’t stretch the truth in good conscience, and answered honestly that she was a follower.

I’m told she received a letter from the school saying “Congratulations, you’ve been accepted to a class of 343 leaders and one follower”.

For us to realize our vision of a safe city, good schools, and high quality of life, it will take jumping in, being willing to look the fool, and enrolling others into the possibility that things can and will change, to the degree that we are all involved.
